Description
This Tree of life pendant is the perfect gift for anyone with Irish heritage or for someone who resonates with the Celtic myths and traditions of the natural world.
Encircled into a side groove with a sterling silver ring, this delicately carved Tree of life pendant features a piece of rosewood, recycled from guitars constructed by a local luthier. As a musician myself, I take enormous satisfaction in creating a piece of jewellery whose inherent wood has previously featured in a beautiful hand-made guitar. Also, part of rosewood’s attractiveness is its durability and ability to stand the test of time and of course the beauty of its grain and color.
In Celtic mythology, Sacred trees and groves were considered as sanctuaries and were often the location of celebrations. The ancient Irish built no temples. Instead, they treated nature as a temple. Trees were the oldest living things and were looked upon as sources of great wisdom. Trees were also perceived as a connection to the spirit world. Indeed, our ancestors held the belief that some trees were a portal between the material world and the underworld. They served as messengers between the two realms and conferred blessings on those who passed between them.

The Rosewood Tree of Life Pendant was one of two pieces (the other was the Mother and Child Bog Oak) that my sons gave their mom for Christmas. This is a stunning carving we knew my wife would love.
We struggled between this piece and the 6000 year old Irish bog yew Celtic eternal knot necklace but landed on the Rosewood Tree of Life. To be perfectly honest, we knew we couldn’t go wrong in either case… and partly because we’re going to purchase the Bog Yew Celtic knot for the next special occasion anyway.
The pieces arrived in Canada very quickly (1-2 weeks) and in time for Christmas. Shipping was quick and reasonable without any customs related delays (thanks Juliette!).
As I noted in my other review… Our only disappointment was not meeting Juliette when we were in Galway this past summer. The biggest challenge is deciding which piece to purchase. Juliette’s carvings are all gorgeous and special in their own way.
