Description
This St Brigid’s cross necklace features a piece of Irish Chestnut, recycled from musical instruments constructed by a local luthier. As a musician myself, I take enormous satisfaction in creating a necklace whose inherent wood has previously featured in a beautiful hand-made harp.
St Brigid’s Cross is a traditional Irish symbol, typically woven from rushes or straw on February 1st, her feast day, as well as the festival of Imbolc in pre-Christian Ireland to welcome spring and protect homes from fire and evil. Featuring a four-armed woven diamond shape, these crosses are hung over doors, with old ones burned annually and replaced bringing blessing and protection of the saint for the remainder of the year. Can also be worn as a protective pendant necklace.
St Brigid remains a powerful symbol of Irish faith, female strength, and humanitarian spirit, embodying compassion, creativity, and connection to the land.
This St Brigid’s cross necklace is the perfect gift for anyone with Irish heritage or for someone who resonates with the Celtic myths and traditions of the natural world.
